Dear Reader,
Beloved,
After many years of watching lives rise, fall, evolve, and transform, I have discovered that destiny is not only a product of desire; destiny is also a product of systems. Many people sincerely love God, carry great dreams, and possess undeniable potential, yet their lives never fully become the picture of what God showed them. Not because God changed His mind, but because they ignored the structures that sustain greatness.
There are three things that shape destiny forever:
- Build prayer habits
- Build wisdom habits
- And Build people wisely around your life.
Interestingly, the third one is where many people become careless. They protect their money but expose their minds. They secure their houses but leave their hearts accessible to every voice. They lock their cars but leave the doors of their destiny open to every influence.
Never forget this: relationships are never neutral. Every relationship is either adding something to you or taking something away from you. The Bible says, "He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed." — Proverbs 13:20. Notice the Scripture did not say the companion of fools will only become foolish; it says he shall be destroyed. Why? Because sometimes destruction does not begin with a decision; it begins with an association. Who you walk with determines what you eventually walk into.
A single conversation changed Esther's destiny. When fear was about to silence her, Mordecai spoke purpose back into her spirit and reminded her that she was born for such a time as that (Esther 4:14). One conversation awakened a queen. However, one wrong relationship destroyed Amnon. A prince with a future connected with Jonadab, a man with dangerous counsel, and his destiny began a journey into tragedy (2 Samuel 13). One person gave wisdom. One person released poison. This is why you must discern people, not just enjoy people.
The people closest to you will either multiply your fire or reduce your future. Some people are not fighting your destiny with weapons; they are weakening it with influence. They reduce your hunger, normalize your distractions, and celebrate the version of you that God is trying to deliver you from. Your circle is either feeding your destiny or draining it. Choose carefully.
One of the greatest signs of maturity is understanding that love is unlimited, but access must be managed. Jesus loved everyone, but Jesus did not give everyone the same access. The multitude heard His teachings. The seventy received assignments. The twelve walked closely with Him. But only three entered certain dimensions and experiences with Him. Peter, James, and John saw moments others did not see. Even Jesus managed proximity.
Love everybody, but don't build with everybody. Forgive everybody, but don't grant everybody influence. Be kind to everybody, but don't allow everybody to shape your thinking. Your next season may not require more opportunities; it may require a better environment. Many people are praying for new doors while still carrying old associations that will destroy what is behind the doors they are praying for.
God had to separate Abraham from certain environments before showing him certain dimensions. "Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred..." — Genesis 12:1. Sometimes separation is not rejection; it is preparation. There are places your destiny cannot grow because the atmosphere is too small for what God planted inside you. A seed can carry the potential of a forest and still die in the wrong soil. Environment matters.
This week, conduct a destiny audit. Ask yourself: Who increases my hunger for God? Who challenges me to become better? Who corrects me when I am drifting? Who celebrates my growth instead of being intimidated by it? Who makes obedience easier? Who keeps pulling me back into what God delivered me from?
After answering sincerely, make three decisions: strengthen relationships that push you closer to purpose, reduce the influence of voices that constantly feed your weakness, and become the kind of person you are praying to attract.
Because this is also important: don't just search for great relationships; become a great relationship. Carry value. Carry wisdom. Carry encouragement. Carry excellence. Right people are not only blessings you receive; they are seeds you must also become.
Beloved, your destiny is too precious to be surrounded carelessly. Protect your prayer life. Protect your wisdom bank. Protect your relationships. Because in the journey of destiny, who walks with you often determines how far you walk.
Your environment is either a greenhouse or a graveyard.
Choose wisely.
